The dream of flight is found in the myths of various cultures (eg, Daedalus and Icarus in Greek mythology, or Pushpaka Wiman in the Ramayana). The first attempts at flight are also often associated with the idea to imitate birds, as in the myth of Daedalus his wings of feathers and wax. Attempts to build wings and jump off high towers continued even in the XVII century, and the testers were injured or broke.

First description of real human flight is from China VI century BC. People was been pinished by bounding to big paper kites. First controlled flight was made by Abbas ibn Farnas in Al-Andalus in IX century AC. Leonardo da Vinci made several projects of flying machines, but never implemented one. History of modern aviation starts in Europe in late XVIII century.
