Comac plans to deliver C919 from 2021

The program of the new Chinese Short - and medium-haul aircraft is progressing. In three years the manufacturer, Comac will deliver the first C919 to customers.

To bring a new aircraft to market is a lengthy process. Often, it comes before the first flight delays. Then certifications from different authorities are needed, and customers want to make adjustments. The Chinese manufacturer Comac believes now, with its new Short-and Mittelstreckenjet C919 to be on a good way.

As Comac Manager Lu Zheng announced at the Singapore Airshow, to be delivered the first copy, and the mass production of the C919 start. You can work with high pressure. "We hope that we will get the certification of the Civil Aviation Administration of China as quickly as possible." The first machine is to go to the customer China Eastern.

International admission is very important

However, even if the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the manufacturer issued within the next three years, the pilot's license for the C919 – this is only a small step in the direction of success. Because the approval is only valid for China. So far, Comac, for the plane has collected 785 orders – only 34 of which are from abroad. The flyer should have on the international market to succeed, it needs also to ensure appropriate approvals. "Once we have the Okay from the FAA or the Easa, can give us the breakthrough," says Lu.

The maiden flight of Comac C919 took place around three years later than originally planned. The plane is made of two Leap-1C engines of the French-us manufacturer CFM powered and can fly up to 4075 km far. With two classes 158 passengers in it's place, in a one-class configuration of 168, and if you are Seating you are particularly dense, even 174 people.

Competition for Airbus and Boeing

The C919 is a Chinese competitor to the Airbus A320 and the Boeing 737, which is most likely to be very interesting. She is only the second passenger jet with a jet drive of the modern age, the China developed. The first is the short-haul designed Comac ARJ21, which took off about a year ago for the first Time.
