Bahrain has Qatar Airways in the hand

In the Middle East, a diplomatic crisis dominates politics. This affects massively on the flights from Qatar Airways, as three maps show.

Just depends on everything from Bahrain. Would make the country the hard way, Qatar Airways would have to cease operations. Because the Emirate has not yet banned Other flights as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. However, should fly the Gulf airline from Doha only by two corridors through bahrainisches territory, one for arrival and one for departures. Really it not leaves many options, since Qatar is surrounded now by air space, with which it is in dispute (see animated map 1 above).

Because of the diplomatic tensions, Qatar Airways must redirect all flights. That means more work for the air traffic controllers in Iran as the news agency Arturo writes, must deal with now 200 flights from Doha more per day the Iranian air cover. Meanwhile, almost all Qatar Airways flights in Europe and the United States fly over Iran.

Massive extra costs

Although Qatar Airways tried to play down the impact of the diplomatic tensions: you have strong affect on operating the airline. So about the flight from Doha to São Paulo in Brazil according to the Washington Post must make an intermediate landing new Athens - probably, to refuel again. The journey now about 16 hours (video 2 above) needs instead of 14 hours and 17 minutes. The flight time from Doha in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum is extended from under four to almost six hours (video 2 and 3 above).

It should cost a lot to Qatar Airways. Alone per flight, which flies over the Iranian air space, the airline must shell out 2000 dollars. To be added more delays and higher fuel costs. It is therefore questionable whether the airline in the face of these developments will keep ticket prices at the same level as now.
