It is an impressive anniversary: KLM is today 100 years old. The Dutch airline is the oldest Airline in the world that can celebrate this anniversary with your original name. A look back at the rich history of the national airline of the Kingdom of the Netherlands:

The Beginnings

7. October 1919:

A consortium of investors founded the Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij voor Nederland en Koloniƫn (Royal aviation company for the Netherlands and the colonies). The first Director Albert Plesman will be appointed at the latter's instigation, the KLM was launched. He directs the fortunes of the airline until its temporary dissolution in the Second world war. As the second father of the KLM the Franco-Dutch aircraft manufacturer Anthony Fokker is applicable. He brings his technical Know-how and builds aircraft according to the needs of KLM.
