So the middle seat could be attractive again

Who gets on the plane in a middle seat, have to hope for considerate neighbors. A Startup wants to create a new concept, it is now a remedy.

Among passengers, there are really only two camps: Those who like to take the window seat or those who prefer a seat on the aisle. The middle seat is unlikely to select someone to volunteer. Because instead of a beautiful view, the cabin wall the against leaning or room for legs to stretch out the seat in the middle promises to be just less space and a fight to the armrests.

This misery wants to quit a company now. The Startup Molon Labe Seating from the United States, has created an Economy-row seats to offer more comfort on the medium-sized places. The American aviation authority, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced now the certification.

More space for the same capacity

The Trick: The outer courts are a bit further forward and higher than the middle seat. Because passengers sit thus offset from each Other, not the shoulders in the way. And two elbows to each armrest in a better place, because the Backrests are graded. Thus, Molon Labe Seating promises more space for passengers, while airlines can still offer the same number of places.

So far, the Startup has the certification only for the Short - and medium-haul seat S1. However, the engineers at currently also a counterpart for the long haul with the name S2. In this the medium is sitting a little broader than at the neighbors. A distinctive feature of all three of the seats are divided, however: you have on the head rest with a protrusion, against which the head follows can be.

Competitor followed the same principle

The British company Rebel Aero pursued by the seat of Joy, a similar concept. Here, the agent is sitting slightly to the front. The effect should be the same as the S1. As a special feature, the Seating surfaces to the Joy fold. So passengers on medium - and Windows should be able to place easier for the Gang to reach.
