Incheon's new Terminal 2 in Check

In January, South Korea's largest airport opened its second Terminal. aeroTELEGRAPH has looked at what it has to offer, the new base of Korean Air.

For the past six months, the Incheon Airport operates to the West of the capital Seoul for the second Terminal. It has 7.5 million square metres of additional area, 72 new Gates, a railway station, new Parking spaces and a lot of extravagance. How well T2 is?

Atmosphere

Long lines, big crowds, full gears – nothing we have seen in the Terminal 2. This is due to the fact that only four flight lines are housed in the Terminal: Korean Air and its Skyteam Partner Delta Air Lines, Air France and KLM. So, only around 18 million passengers per year, or about 25 percent of the capacity of the Seoul Incheon Airport is attributable to T2 at the moment. This leads to a more relaxed and a little frantic atmosphere. This also contributes, that the Terminal is light and bright, with a lot of real and fake plants as well as pools with running water in the area of Check-ins. The front of the opening announced by waterfalls and Koi carp, we got to face. You can find art in T2, such as letters of the Korean alphabet, the slopes in one place of the ceiling and changing colors light up.

Orientation

Although the Terminal extends over five floors, have we lost a single Time. The signage is in Korean and English. The directions for arrival and departure are blue, the are for transfer passengers green. The technique also prevents you from error: Whoever goes about to the Shuttle train in the direction of Terminal 1, and must scan his Ticket. The Gate is located but not in T1 or between T1 and T2 in the building called the Concourse, but in T2, the device of the passenger.

Helpful in the T2 distributed information terminals. Here, passengers can also scan the Ticket and show to what Gate he and how he get there. He, too, can find a search box in Other places in Terminal 2. The displayed path to the goal is either made by a small male off or as a Video display. This is very handy. However, one must consult the way, once seen, then of course, memorizing or re-a info terminal. An application for mobile that sends users location-based information, is announced, but not yet available. According to Korean Air, it should soon be ready.

Catering

We eat at a Korean Food Street in one of the lower floors of Airports, where passengers strengthen to the arrival with the Bus or train, cheaper than the price above. We opt for the rice dish Bibimbap in a hot stone bowl. The rice and other ingredients such as different vegetables and beef are served mixed and stirred themselves according to the personal taste. This typical Korean dish is tasty, fills you up and costs 10,000 Won, equivalent to about 8 euros.

Check-in and Security

T2 has a number of Self-Check-in-Counter, as well as machines, where you can have your baggage checked in. Korean Air has for their Business and First Class passengers, in addition, a spatially separate Check-in area. There is also a small First-Class Lounge. For security checks and passport checks there are in and in the departure of two areas. With us, everything is uncomplicated and unspectacular.

Shopping

After we have a pre-departure safety checks, steps, we turn to the purchases. In addition to the normal Duty-Free Shops with a mixed range of products, there are a number of boutiques with high-priced Offered. Since we are looking for but only a small gift, we will choose only the 13,000 Won, or about 10 euros, which we still have in the bag. We look around us in a transaction that results, especially Technology items and knick-knacks such as small figures of cartoon animals, Brown, and Cony, where the airport advertises. From the equivalent of 3.50 euros, you can find here. We eventually buy a Powerbank for about 9.50 Euro. Unfortunately, the prices in the Shops are given only in US dollars and not in Won. Fortunately, the conversion is not too complicated, since a Dollar is equivalent to around 1100 Won.

Extras

For us two specific features are positive. The first concerns transit passengers. This the airport offers a free eight different transit tours to Incheon or Seoul. They last between two and five hours. On the other, rest rooms and showers, which can use of each passenger are to be found in the Airport, even if he or she flies Economy Class. There is also a sports-game-room with a small trampoline and a kind of basketball game. Here we get before the long flight a little movement. Children will also have an area for themselves. Right next to the "IT Experience Zone" in which you have to drive with Virtual Reality goggles race and can fly.

View

T2 is not finished yet. Until 2024/25 it should be expanded to its full size, and then, finally, 46 million passengers a year, offering space, so that the airport will reach a total capacity of 100 million passengers. Up to the year 2030 Terminal 3 is also planned. It is to the East, arise from the Terminal 1 and the Incheon airport allow to 130 million passengers per year welcome.

We visited the Terminal at the invitation of Korean Air and the Korean tourism. The Tester aeroTELEGRAPH your judgment nevertheless, a free Hand. The airline took no influence on the content of the article nor any of conditions. This would be contrary to the code of conduct aeroTELEGRAPH.
