What Airbus is doing with Lufthansa's A380?

The German airline says goodbye to super jumbos. Six of its 14 Airbus A380 sold to Lufthansa back to the manufacturer. This could have advantages for both sides.

14 A380 delivered by Airbus between may 2010 and April 2015, Lufthansa. You wear the Christian names of Frankfurt am Main, Munich, Beijing, Tokyo, Johannesburg, Zurich, Vienna, New York, Berlin, Brussels, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Delhi and Germany. The super Jumbo jet, the German airline, each of four rolls-Royce Trent 970-powered works of Rolls-Royce engines. Munich, Beijing, Tokyo, and Vienna are already wearing the new dark blue from Lufthansa with a white crane on the rear.

However, in February Airbus announced the end of production for the super Jumbo, and world's large, four-engine planes are on the decline. They are displaced by newer, two-engined models, which consume less fuel and is more flexible. So, Lufthansa announced on Wednesday (13. March) on the edge of a communication on the Order of 40 Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner, six of its A380 to sort out. 2022 and 2023 would be disposed of the Giant aircraft manufacturer Airbus, the airline. "The purchase price was not disclosed," she said.

Even Boeing to buy Airbus Jets

That Airbus buys back its own plane, may not appear in the first Moment unusual, but it is not. When a customer orders at the same time, new Jets, it is possible that the manufacturer buys from him in return of old planes. In the past there was even the very rare case that Boeing is an airline Airbus declined Jets.

So, the American aircraft manufacturer was bought in 2012, China Eastern Airlines five old Airbus A340 and sold the airline's 20 Boeing 777. The pilot went to the relevant Boeing Aircraft Holding Company, were a long time at the German airport Schwerin-Parchim. Five more A340 took Airbus to the Chinese Airline. These machines were parked at the Aéroport de Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées in France.

First A380 to be decomposed

The regional airport at the foot of the Pyrenees operates Tarmac Aerosave, a company for aircraft storage, maintenance, and scrapping, a huge Parking lot. There will also be the first discarded A380 went 2018. Four super-jumbos, which had received the financial company Dr. Peters after a ten-year lease from Singapore Airlines, landed in the South of France – two for the time being, to storage, two to the demo days.

What is happening now with the A380, which will sell Lufthansa back to Airbus? At the request of aeroTELEGRAPH, the aircraft manufacturer said: "Airbus supports and promotes the second-hand market of the A380." Not to outer but to possible negotiations with customers. Addison already in the country, the CEO of the analysis company, Air Insight believes that Lufthansa is the possibility to Let the A380 Airbus go back, either in the purchase agreements, the A350 has to write, or even then, in the contracts of the A380. "In any case, a great move," says the expert.

Chances on the used market

With a view to Airbus‘ options country says: "The second-hand market for the A380 will be, in my opinion, much better than you think." Prices would be noise in the basement and the risk of a purchase of such a large aircraft to decrease. Airbus will keep the A380 from Lufthansa, and offer them to interested operators, and thus the price is still high. Because: "Who would not want a plane that has been serviced by Lufthansa Technik?", country praises. "You are the Best in the industry."
