TAP brings one-way long-haul tickets

Classic airlines, one way tickets cost massively more than flights out and back. TAP change that now as one of the first classic.

In the Pocket Access who wants to fly on November 30 from Frankfurt to New York and not back, must be pretty deep. Lufthansa requires 3072 euro for the cheapest simple ticket in economy class. Not worth it. Rather to book a roundtrip for 573 euros and makes the return trip exceptionally simply expire.

That sounds absurd. The anomaly is but for decades and makes sense for airlines. If they offer simple tickets, price-conscious passengers would strictly book the individual flights to the price. Therefore flögen they often return with various airlines and back.

Difficult planning

This scenario has unpleasant consequences for the airlines. More seats remained free at the more expensive provider. This means not only less revenue, but also more complicated planning.

Short-haul, the low-cost airlines such as Ryanair and easyJet have long broken with tradition. Traditional providers moved to now at least partly. On the long haul, however, it remains as before. First Lowcoster like Eurowings or Norwegian offer cheap one-way fares on long-haul.

From mid November

As one of the first classic airlines, TAP now introduces the concept on intercontinental flights. One-way tickets are available now and for flights starting on November 15. After New York get currently on 30 November for 497 euro - so for only slightly less than with the trick at Lufthansa.
